How Nintendo Characters Reacted To The Possibility Of Gay Marriage

This video from John Oliver's "Last Week Tonight" celebrates the 10 year anniversary of gay marriage legalization in the State of Massachusetts. Since then, it has been legal in 17 (other sources say 19) US States (and counting). Hooray for legalized gay union!

In the same week, social media has been buzzing about Nintendo's latest game "Tomodachi Life." In this iteration of the game, players can pretty much do anything with their avatars. Anything, that is, except to marry another avatar of the same sex. Angry fans have pushed for TV shows and media to pressure Nintendo into doing something about this lapse.

Nintendo has since apologized and promised to be more inclusive in future versions of the game. "We pledge that if we create a next installment in the Tomodachi series, we will strive to design a game-play experience from the ground up that is more inclusive, and better represents all players," they said.

The video concludes with a fan-made video that shows how "happy" the Nintendo characters were after receiving the news.

Mario and Link share a passionate kiss immediately after Mario got the call with the historic announcement. Zelda and Peach, on the other hand, are busy in the bedroom. Toad and Yoshi celebrate their newfound ability: "Pension in a Box." And poor Bowser? He gets death benefits because his long time partner Donkey Kong passed away.

Don't worry, they all get a happy ending..
