Study: Bottoming Can Cause Prostate Cancer

A University of Montreal study revealed that gay men who "bottom for several partners" are exposed to higher prostate cancer risks compared to their heterosexual or "top" counterparts.

The report is based on a survey of around 3,200 men. Half of the group had suffered from prostate cancer between 2005 and 2009. The team of epidermiologist Marie-Élise Parent first found out that heterosexual men who had sex with over 20 women in their lifetimes are 28% less likely to develop the cancer compared to straight men who don't have sex with as many  partners. They think that a regular release of ejaculate could aid in the prevention of prostate cancer.

Gay men who bottom, however, are facing higher risks.

Gay guys who bottomed for over 20 male partners more than doubled their risk for prostate cancer. The risk of developing a more aggressive form of the cancer is also increased by 500%.

The research is not exactly clear on the mechanics of these findings, but they speculate that constant bottoming traumatizes the prostate. This results to the release of a prostate-specific antigen, a chemical that points to cancer in the area.

If this is true, then bottoms need to be more careful and should have their prostates checked once in a while. I wonder, however, if the research is based on the number of different partners (as it implies), or the frequency of engaging in sex (even if it's just with one or two partners)? Also, if ejaculating regularly aids in prostate cancer prevention, then would that somehow cancel off the negative effects of bottoming?

This is huge!

Apple's CEO Tim Cook just came out as gay, and he did so with a blast! He had this to say in an interview with Business Insider:

"While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven’t publicly acknowledged it either, until now. So let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me."

It was a unique approach to coming out because he chose a business magazine instead of a lifestyle magazine to cover his story. He also made sure that his being gay is seen as something that aided him in his business interactions and dealings.

"Being gay has given me a deeper understanding of what it means to be in the minority and provided a window into the challenges that people in other minority groups deal with every day. It’s made me more empathetic, which has led to a richer life. It’s been tough and uncomfortable at times, but it has given me the confidence to be myself, to follow my own path, and to rise above adversity and bigotry. It’s also given me the skin of a rhinoceros, which comes in handy when you’re the CEO of Apple."

There has been a lot of speculation about Cook's sexuality, and now those rumors can finally be put to rest.


You may also want to read what a Bloomberg reporter had to say about this important occurrence in the business world.  This is, after all, the first time that a leader of a fortune 500 company has willingly come out of the closet.

TVLine has confirmed that Harris and his real-life husband, David Burtka, are set to guest-star on FX’s anthology smash.

Harris will appear in Freak Show‘s final two episodes as a chameleon salesman, while Burtka will turn up in the season finale in what I’m told is a sexy storyline with Jessica Lange’s batty chanteuse.

Earlier this month, Horror Story puppetmaster Ryan Murphy — who invited AHS super-fan (and good friend) NPH on the show via Twitter back in August — told TVLine of Harris’ forthcoming Freak Show stint: “He had very specific ideas for what he wanted to do, and I had very specific ideas, so we’re working on melding those.”

E! has the scoop on how Jon felt about the Alan/Walden union:

"The first time I heard it I said, 'What?!'" he told us. "And then I thought, 'Oh yeah it kind of makes sense, because last season Alan's wedding fell apart and Ashton's wedding has fallen apart.' The writers have a good idea and it opens up a lot of doors."

And the reason for the wedding? The characters both want to raise a baby. Creator Chuck Lorre had this to say:

"I thought it was both very funny and heartwarming that these guys would go to such great lengths to get a kid out of the foster system and give him a home. Yes, there's some subterfuge in doing that, they are gaming the system, but the intention is to give a child a home, and it brings the series back to being about two men teaching a young man to become a man."

He added, "It's timely and it has a heartbeat. Ashton's character because it's Ashton and Ashton is a man with a huge heart, he's really engaged in social welfare. He puts a lot of time and money into getting better. And we're getting the spirit of that into the show. This seems like the next logical step. Not romance, not sex, raising a child."

Another surprise for fans: Michael Bolton is also appearing to serenade the newlyweds with a twist on his hit, "When A Man Loves A Woman."

Gay cartoon characters are all over the place, but most of them are just hiding in plain sight. I mean, I'm pretty sure that some of those Disney princes and robot pilots prefer to be with other guys. There are also a lot of cartoon guys who are too vain and too "cultured" to be straight. We will probably never know for sure, but I for one will hold on to that idea.


This week, Cartoon Network aired an episode of "Clarence" featuring a short appearance of two gay characters. If memory serves me right, this would be the first time something like this happened on the network. While the characters are not relevant to the plot, it strengthens how lonely (and embarrassed?) the woman waiting for a blind date must have felt.

The fact that the gay couple appeared is significant though. It's a small way of showing kids that gay people are "normal." They aren’t shown as characters to laugh at, but just as regular people.

But guess what? That smooch barely made it to air. One of the voice actors/writers Spencer Rothbell sent out a tweet suggesting the network was not exactly comfortable broadcasting the same-sex affection. And as it turns out, the original concept was that of the two guys kissing on the lips.

Hmmm... Do they think it's too much for kids? Are they avoiding complaints and issues from homophobic parents?

Okay, so there are actually no definitive guidelines on how to gracefully exit after a horrible one night stand. You just have to suck it in and leave as fast as you can. If it's that horrible, you shouldn't bother worrying about how weird or how rude you will be. After all, you won't see the guy after this day, will you?

In this video, Danny Carter, a character played by Jimmy Fowlie (web series Go-go Boy Interrupted), finds himself in a bind when he wakes up in a strange place. Watching him try to figure out (1) where he is, (2) what he's done and (3) who he’s with may bring you a memory or two or your past exploits.




For me, the main lesson would be how NOT to get into these kinds of situations in the first place. Saves you the trouble of (1) being stressed out about how to get away from the mystery house, (2) having to live with yourself for sleeping with someone horrible, and (3) having to go to the HIV testing center because you have no idea if you had safe sex.

Pop icon and superstar Ariana Grande is overly protective of and loves her gay brother Frankie Grande to death. This is no secret. Even Frankie, who was a house guest in this season's Big Brother, has been very vocal about how close he is with his younger sister. It is not wonder that nothing can get in between their relationship. Not even religion.

Instinct Magazine reports:

So, when the Catholic Church -- which the siblings were raised following -- told Frankie that "God didn't love him" because he's born that way, Ariana didn't hesitate to drop the rosary beads and pick up the Kabbalah bracelet. 


“I adored and worshipped my brother, Frankie, as a little girl – everything he did was cool,” Ariana told The Telegraph. “When my brother was told that God didn’t love him I was like, ‘OK, that’s not cool.’ They were building a Kabbalah centre in Florida so we both checked it out and really had a connection with it.”

But the waning Catholic war on gays isn't the the only Vatican decree that turned off Ariana. 

“[The church] said Spongebob Squarepants is gay and he’s a sinner and he should burn in hell. And Harry Potter was a sin. And working women. I was like ‘Enough! First the gays, then Spongebob and now Harry Potter? Get out my house!’” Ariana said in a 2013 interview. "I was not having it. And the working woman thing? It was a moment for me. I needed something else to believe in.”

What a big move from the superstar! I wouldn't say that I totally agree with everything she has done, but I could not argue with the fact that she was willing to do leaps and bounds just to protect her loved ones from bullies and discrimination.

I personally believe that the Church should not be judged because of the acts of a few. The Church is a community, and just like every other community, there are good seeds and bad seeds. But that's a topic for another day.

Be careful with your hook ups, especially if you meet your guy via social networking sites and dating apps! You never know how the night would end. Sometimes, it may not turn out as well as you would like to.

A guy in London, for instance, was assaulted and robbed after an ill-fated Grindr hookup. The 26 year old victim met the suspect online and decided to invite him over for fun. The suspect, a Caucasian guy in his mid twenties, arrived at the victim's place at around 5PM September 28. At one point he began texting someone then announced that he needed to leave.

As it turns out, a second suspect was waiting outside the door with a cattle prod. When the victim showed the first suspect to the door, he was surprised when the second guy used violence on him and threatened to electrocute him using the cattle prod if he didn't surrender his valuables.

Detective Constable April Smart released this statement:

"The victim thankfully did not suffer serious physical injuries but has been left very shaken by this incident.

"I am keen to identify the two suspects as soon as possible and I am appealing to anyone who may know who they are to contact the police.

"Whilst we have not connected this incident to any other reported to us, I must consider that the suspects could have committed this type of offence previously and I would appeal to anyone who may have been a victim of this type of offence to contact the police, where they will be treated with the utmost sensitivity.

"I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community that we are doing everything we can to arrest these men and have followed and eliminated a number of potential leads and inquiries to date.

"I would urge everyone who uses the services of online dating apps and sites to take steps to help them to stay safe whilst meeting strangers."


It pays to be extra vigilant when dealing with strangers.

Family Circle Magazine Criticized For Featuring Gay Family

Women's magazine Family Circle deviated from its traditional, "All-American" standards by featuring a gay family for the very first time. And they were met with criticism and disgusted reactions from some of their more "traditional" readers.

Chris and Bob Osner-Hackett (together with their two daughters) appeared in the last issue of the magazine as part of the column "Modern Life." The couple described how they have always felt welcomed and accepted by their community.

Unappreciative Family Circle readers took to Facebook upon seeing the photo. They felt that the same-sex family hugging each other was offensive. Some expressed how "disappointed" they were, while one user even went as far as saying that the family was an "abomination."

Linda Fears, Editor-in-Chief of Family Circle, had this to say:
“The Modern Life column is one of several new features introduced with the redesigned September 2014 issue. Our aim is to be reflective of all families and we don’t think it’s a big deal to publish a piece on gay parents. We are certainly not the first magazine or media brand to share the story of gay parents. We hope that everything we publish in Family Circle is inspiring, informative, thought provoking or motivating in one way or another. Our goal is to be relevant, honest and realistic.”

In my opinion, if you don't like something, then don't read it.

Perez Hilton To Jennifer Lawrence: "F*ck You!"

One of the world's biggest attention seekers, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, decided to post a video of himself ranting about Jennifer Lawrence. This is in response to comments made by the actress in Vanity Fair's November issue. In the issue, Lawrence said that the only reason Perez Hilton removed her nude images from the blog site was because "people got pissed.

This made Hilton rant like a crazy person because he felt that he has been misjudged.


Here are some of the statements made by Hilton in the video:

“She mentions how she was forced to watch the video I made right after her naked photos surfaced online. In that video, I apologized to her sincerely from my heart. And I did so more than once. And I was tempted to apologize to her again, but you know what… No. F*ck that. Life isn't always what you want. And you don't always get what you ask for."

“That video that I made and me explaining my thought process was real, it was sincere, and it wasn't some bullshit made up excuse." 

"This video is for Jennifer Lawrence, to say ‘f*ck you'! And I'm going to get in trouble for that, but I don't give a sh*t," he said.

“When you think about Robert Downey Jr., you don't think ‘oh, he's a drug addict’ or ‘a recovering drug addict.’ You think about that actor that you truly love.” 

"I'm not trying to be Oprah. I am just a better version of me than I was 10 years ago. Do I still have work to do? Can I still be even better? F*ck yeah, but I am not that person in the past. And if you're trying to keep me in the prison that is the past, f*ck you!"




Towards the end of the video, he had this to say:  “You were extremely hurt. I contributed to that. I genuinely am sorry. I hope that you can look inside my brain and see that I truly, truly did not pre-meditatively, purposely decide to hurt you. And that's all that I have to say, I will not be making any more comments on this... Or maybe I will.”

Was this video really necessary? Probably if Hilton really felt that had to defend himself from the harsh judgments of society. Or if he and Lawrence used to be really close friends. Or perhaps he just wants the whole world to know about his thoughts on the matter. Lots of people, after all, think that what he says is important and worth listening to.

Anderson Cooper, in his CNN segment "The Ridiculist," reacted to Pat Robertson's statement about AIDS. Cooper started off by saying: "Tonight we have an important warning for all Americans. Not from the government, but from the grouchy grandpa of televangelism, the infinity pool of misinformation that is Pat Robertson."

As you may recall, Pat Robertson advised his 700 Club viewers that they should be careful should they go to Kenya because "the towels could have AIDS."

"Just to be clear, if like Pat Robertson you somehow missed all the evidence, all the research, the depth and breadth of all the knowledge garnered about HIV and AIDS over the past three decades, you cannot get HIV if you share towels."

Anderson went on and called Robertson out on some of his other ridiculous claims, like categorically saying that "people overseas" should not eat vegetables and eat ice cream because it's not safe. And how the gay people in San Francisco have an ingenious way of spreading "the stuff" by using specialized rings.



He also makes fun of the woman in the clip of Robertson, who somehow agrees to everything the televangelist says. Cooper said: "How much do they pay that woman to seat there like a zombie?"

Way to go, Anderson Cooper!

TV host Ellen Degeneres devised this awesome way of predicting who will win the World Series. Will the Giants or the Royals win it this year?

Ellen gets the ball rolling by saying: "I have a guy in a Giants' hat and a guy in a Royals' hat. And ladies, men, get your cash ready because I'm gonna send them up to the audience. Whoever collects the most money in their shorts is going to be the winner of the World Series. Alright? Get ready. Let the World Series Hunkathon begin!"



So who gets to win? Well, the Giants do. But Ellen made a whole lot of sense by saying "But I think we were all just winners."

The money collected will be donated to breast cancer research.

Reddit Users Pranked By "Boobs" That Are Actually A Guy's Butt Cheeks

A Reddit user (poshpink330) must have had too much time on her hands one night and posted this photo of what looks like nicely shaped boobs supported by a gray bra. The photo was posted under the /r/gonewild subreddit, a space used by people who post naked and semi naked pics.

Users had a pretty nice reaction to the post, sending out flirty messages and naughty photos. Some claimed to have pleasured themselves using the photo, while others demanded to see more.

As it turns out, the joke was on them. The photo is actually that of a pair of briefs wedged between a guy's ass cheeks. The owner? No other than poshpink330's husband.

"Glad everyone loved my husband's a** crack. Whether you were frustrated and needed someone to 'blow your load,' or if you simply wanted to 'kiss every inch of it goodnight,' I'm glad that my husband's butt gave you the comfort you needed. All 51 of you who pm'd me," she wrote the following day.

The men who were "victimized" were outraged and mad that they fell for the prank. Some called her a bitch, and others just felt bad for the wasted "load." One man, however, thought that the prank was a really good one: "Hey, it was late, and those 'tits' looked amazing. Well played."

Ever wondered what US President Obama's stance on marriage equality is? The New Yorker's Jeffrey Toobin had the chance to interview him, and the conversation dwelled into the direction of the marriage equality movement. Obama also expressed his belief that the U.S. Constitution requires all states to allow same-sex marriage.

The interview went on like this:

“In some ways, the decision that was just handed down to not do anything about what states are doing on same-sex marriage may end up being as consequential—from my perspective, a positive sense—as anything that’s been done. Because I think it really signals that although the Court was not quite ready—it didn’t have sufficient votes to follow Loving v. Virginia (where the Court held that states could no longer ban racial intermarriage) and go ahead and indicate an equal-protection right across the board—it was a consequential and powerful signal of the changes that have taken place in society and that the law is having to catch up.”

While Obama opposed marriage equality until May of 2012, he said in the interview that he now believes the Constitution requires all states to allow same-sex marriage. It is an argument that his Administration has not yet made before the Supreme Court.

He continues by saying:

How To Get Away With Murder is one of the more interesting new shows on television, and it's thanks to the character of Connor Walsh (and his adventures as a gay law student). Lots of positive reviews online, with people calling it one of the more progressive shows to date. Haters, however, are gonna hate. And we still hear a lot of homophobic comments here and there. They are like cockroaches that we just can't seem to get rid of!

Take twitter user @Dabdelhakiem, for example. She shamelessly posted this tweet and had the audacity to tag producer Shonda Rhimes:

So how do you respond to such a cheap shot? With another cheap shot, of course. Shonda, not to be outdone, sent out a series of tweets calling out the homophobic fan.

And that, ladies and gentlemen. is how you don't get away with murder.

OMG! I would probably die of a heart attack if somebody pranked me like this. This is probably one of the best/worst (depending on your sense of humor and heart condition) horror prank ever made. It's terrifying because it actually threatens your life! You can probably file charges for being subjected to this.

If you check a sound level meter, you would probably see that the decibels in these victims' screams and shouts are much higher compared to other pranks of its nature. It was actually a pretty good team up between a chainsaw-wielding "Leatherface"-like maniac and an actor with Hanhart Syndrome (which includes a risk of having no limbs).




But still. I wonder how they choose the victims for these pranks. Do they even bother checking for illnesses, or do they just randomly prank strangers who are fortunate/unfortunate enough to be at the wrong place at the wrong time?

Tsk. This guy probably didn't get the memo. Or perhaps he has been shown evidence that a newly mutated strain of the HIV virus is not transmitted via evil towels in Africa. Who knows what's on this guy's mind?

Pat Robertson, the 700 Club host and televangelist, warned his viewers against traveling to Kenya because the towels could have AIDS. This came as a response to a written question from a viewer who was asking if she should pursue her evangelization dreams despite the Ebola scare in Africa.



Kudos to the girl reading the question for not LOLing and ROFLing because of Pat's response! I must say, she maintained her composure pretty well. In case you need a refresher course, you can not contract AIDS from towels.

5 Things To Consider Before Entering Into An Open Relationship

I got several inquiries and reactions after I posted the "Open Relationships: Salvation or Doom" article last month. Some people were adamant in saying that there is no justification for entering such a complicated setup. Being in a real loving relationship means a connection between two people, and third parties have no place at all. Others were grateful that the "taboo" topic was openly discussed and that valid reasons were given to explain why people would opt for such a setup.

Being in an open relationship is indeed complicated, but as I have seen it could work for some couples. It would probably take more effort from both parties, but the payoff could be worth it in the end. Here are some things that you need to know before you consider being in this kind of relationship:

1. Are you ready to be jealous?
We are talking about your partner potentially sleeping with other people. People who could be hotter than you, more intelligent than you, more interesting than you, and likely better endowed. No matter how progressive you think you are, there will be certain situations where you will feel a bit insecure and a tad jealous. Is that something that you can handle? Or will that lead you to a path of self-destruction? Ultimately, you will be the one suffering so you need to be really honest about this, and you need to make sure that you can handle jealousy when it comes knocking on your brain.

2. Are you stable?

Stability here does not necessarily pertain to mental stability (although it would be a plus) or financial stability (which is irrelevant in this case). Before you enter into an open relationship, you should make sure that your current relationship is stable. Have you been with your partner for a long time? Has your relationship stood the test of time? Are you certain that you can sustain your relationship no matter what happens? Having a strong foundation based on trust and love would help a lot if you and your partner decide to take the leap and venture into an open relationship.

If you are considering this setup with a new partner, it would be more tricky. I think that trust is essential if open relationships are to work, and trust is not something that happens overnight. In this case, the stability needs to come from within you. You have a better chance of surviving if you come into an open relationship with a strong head and steady emotions. It would be a bad idea to come into this if you are stressed out in life.

3. Are you ready to be fair?

Reciprocity is the name of the game. In an open relationship, you need to be willing to let your partner do something if you want to do something. You can't be sleeping around and expect your partner to be monogamous. If you go out on dates to get to know your potential "hits," then he should be allowed to do the same. 

4. Are you ready to communicate?

First, you need to have a lengthy discussion with your partner. Be clear as to what you want out of this setup, and make sure that he speaks his mind as well. Specific is terrific. Set up rules if you need to, and set boundaries. Are you only allowed to sleep with other people when you are in another time zone? Are you allowed to sleep with someone more than once? Are you limited to having sex with others only when both of you are present? Are you required to tell each other about your exploits? Who are you allowed to sleep with? Do you have a "no bang list" or a list of people that you should never touch (like relatives or exes)?  Rules will make you maintain a certain amount of trust and will help you sustain your open relationship. It will also set you apart from being just a normal couple who sleeps around with others.

You should also be upfront with other people who could be affected by your decision. If you engage in one night stands with other people then there should be no problem. If you have a more regular third party partner, however, he should know what he is signing up for. Spare him the drama and let him know that you are already in an open relationship.

You may also want to consider telling your friends about your setup. That way, they won't get stressed if they see you or your partner getting sexy with other people.

5. What are your reasons behind entering this setup?
If you are entering this setup to save an already doomed relationship, then chances the relationship is doomed anyway. This is not a quick fix or a patch you can use to save something that is already over.


From what I gathered, open relationships could be great if it's something that works out for you. It gives you enough freedom to meet and learn from other people while maintaining that one special relationship that's for keeps. It gets you out of being monotonous, and it spices up a relationship. And you can just imagine the conversations that you and your partner can have based on your new experiences! But then again, this setup does not work for a lot of people. As such, it's not something that you should get into without serious thought and consideration.
