A controversial billboard poster has been put up in Portland, Tennessee. It directly attacks gay marriage in the United States with a simple quote from the Bible.
"You shall not lie with a man as with a womaan. It is an abomination" - God

The second half of the poster reminds everyone to "love the sinner, hate the sin," alluding to homosexuality as a sin, and to gay people as sinners. The billboard was paid for by Ronnie Monday, a Vietnam veteran. It has been visible for some time, and donations from his "Christian friends" made it possible for the contract to be renewed another six months.
“When the president came out and indicated that he thought that gay marriage was OK, that was pretty much the last straw," said Monday. "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. And he says it’s wrong. And in my opinion, that’s what it is, it’s wrong.”
Residents and gay rights supporters are outraged by the public display of hatred, but they also recognize the fact that Monday and his group are entitled to free speech. It just seems wrong that such a blatant disregard of respect towards human beings can be left standing in such a public place. Sure, there appears to be a "positive" theme because it teaches people to "love" and not "hate." The assumptions, however, are not acceptable. The statement presupposes that homosexuality in itself is a sin, and something that should be shunned.
Well I've got news for you, Mr. Monday. In my opinion, you are the one sinning for initiating such an untoward attack against an entire community. You are the one sinning for unjustly condemning people for being different. You are the one sinning for being the one who cast the proverbial first stone. And don't worry. I will remember to love you, the sinner, and hate the sin.
