That Gay Guy in Big Brother US (Season 16)

by Discreet Serpent

I love watching reality shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race, but I haven't seen a single episode of Big Brother US until this season. I don't remember what got me started: probably just another boring night without new show episodes to watch.

Cody is a sales account executive from New Jersey who apparently spends his free time working out and modeling for underwear. How cool is that?

The show has it's good share of good looking guys, and just watching them walk around with their hotness is almost enough to keep a kid like me occupied. Who cares about all the conniving and plotting when there are half naked guys walking around and showing off their guns?

Beast Mode Cowboy Caleb is an adventure hunting guide from Dallas. He's a bit love crazy, but he sure looks good even with that ball in front of him.

This seasons biggest character, in my opinion, is Frankie Grande. He is a semi-celebrity in his own right, being a YouTube celebrity with a decent number of followers. His biggest claim to fame, however, is being the older brother of pop superstar Arianna Grande. But more importantly for us, he is the (only) gay guy in the show (at least, the only one who openly admits it).

Frankie is one of the masterminds behind the strongest alliance in the show. But will his lies and manipulations catch up with him?

Frankie presents himself as the "stereotype" gay guy: smart, headstrong, aggressive, manipulative, and sweet. He had everyones's hearts as soon as he stepped into the Big Brother house, and was immediately considered as a part of the all-male, all-hunk alliance despite his preference. I never saw a hint of discrimination from anyone in the house, and that for me is a great indication of how far the gay community has gone. He even has an almost romantic relationship with one of the house hotties, another smart and devious guy named Zach. Yeah, they cuddle a lot and even talked about making out a couple of times.

Zach is a recent graduate of Economics (aka unemployed) from Palm Beach. He sure is a devious one, and I love how he stirs chaos in the house. He is also involved in some sort of a showmance with Frankie.

I'm not sure how far Frankie will go. He got into hot water this week because some of his plans were exposed to the other house guests. He even had to fend for himself in a team competition (and won!) because his partner did not participate at all. I hope he wins if only for the plans he has for his prize money. He mentioned that he joined the show for charity, and plans to donate to help build schools in Africa.
